Every Cub Scout, regardless of age, must complete the Cyber Chip Program to be recognized as an expert on cyber safety and etiquette. The Cyber Chip Program helps to teach and reinforce these important concepts in an age-appropriate way. The Cyber Chip Award is earned after completing the requirements in the Cub Scout Cyber Chip Workbook.

Requirements for Cyber Chip Award

  • A youth must demonstrate an awareness of the rules of internet safety and cyber etiquette by completing the Cub Scout Cyber Chip workbook.
  • A youth must understand that personal information should not be shared online.
  • A youth must understand the concept of “netiquette” by understanding how to interact online in a courteous and respectful way.
  • A youth must understand how to “Think Before You Post” by understanding the consequences of his or her online actions.

The Cyber Chip Workbook is a great way for Cub Scouts to learn about internet safety and cyber etiquette in an age-appropriate way. The workbook includes activities and games that will help Scouts to better understand these important concepts. The workbook also includes quizzes that Scouts must pass in order to be eligible for the Cyber Chip Award.

How to Get the Cyber Chip Award

Once the requirements for the Cyber Chip Award have been completed, the award can be earned by visiting your local BSA Council office or by visiting the BSA website. Scouts will be presented with a patch, certificate, and pin that are to be worn to recognize their achievement.
