COVID-19 Travel Restrictions for Military Families
The DoD has implemented new COVID-19 travel restrictions for military families in order to keep everyone safe. These restrictions include both unrestricted travel and government-funded options. Military personnel and their families will now have the opportunity to travel on leave and attend various activities and events.
Unrestricted travel includes any travel that is not funded by the government. This includes personal travel arrangements or commercial flights.
Government-funded travel includes any travel that is funded by the government, such as travel on DoD-operated aircrafts. Government-funded travel is subject to the same restrictions as unrestricted travel.
DOD Implements New Overseas Cost-of-Living Allowance
The DoD has also implemented updates to the Overseas Cost-of-Living Allowance (COLA) adjustment process. The COLA adjustment process is designed to create an even playing field between overseas duty stations and the US. With these updates, service members and their families now have more opportunities to attend events when returning from overseas duty stations.
US Southern Command Theater Clearance Information
All DOD military and USCG personnel, both active duty and reserve, travelling on leave must receive theater clearance approval. Additionally, country clearance approval must also be obtained before attending any event or activity in the US.
