The Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) is a test used to assess the physical fitness of United States Army personnel. The test consists of three events: two minutes of push-ups, two minutes of sit-ups, and a two-mile run. Each event is scored individually, and the total score is used to determine an individual’s overall physical fitness level.
To successfully complete the APFT, candidates must score at least 60 points in each event; the total score must be at least 180 points to pass. Candidates are allowed to take the test three times a year, and must achieve a minimum score of 180 each time to pass.

The APFT Score Chart is a useful tool when analyzing a candidate’s performance, as it displays the required and maximum score for each event:
- Push-Ups: Required score of 60 points, maximum of 100 points
- Sit-Ups: Required score of 60 points, maximum of 100 points
- Two-Mile Run: Required score of 60 points (21 minutes or less), maximum of 100 points
