In many military units, the Army Divisional Safety Officer (ADSO) and/or Command Divisional Safety Officer (CDSO) are responsible for all safety activities. This means that they are responsible for ensuring the safety of all personnel, equipment, and resources while on duty. The ADSO/CDSO is in charge of developing, implementing, and monitoring safety policies and procedures. They are also responsible for enforcing safety regulations and training personnel on safety topics.
The ADSO/CDSO is also responsible for coordinating with other military units to ensure the safe sharing of information and resources. They are also responsible for overseeing inspections and ensuring that all safety issues are addressed in a timely manner. Finally, they are responsible for ensuring that all personnel are properly trained and certified to perform their duties.
However, the ADSO/CDSO is not responsible for any of the following:
- Enforcing discipline amongst personnel
- Developing operational plans
- Making decisions that have an impact on operational effectiveness
- Making decisions that affect the morale of personnel
- Developing or implementing financial strategies and policies
- Enforcing political action procedures
The ADSO/CDSO is responsible for leading the safety team and ensuring that all safety protocols are enforced. However, they are not responsible for any of the tasks mentioned above, as those tasks are typically outside of their scope of duties. Therefore, it is important for the ADSO/CDSO to understand their role and the type of tasks they should focus on in order to ensure the safety of all personnel, equipment, and resources.
