To easily use the psychrometric chart, you need to understand the terms and points, which are explained here. The bottom of the chart is the Moisture Content (X) axis that denotes the mass of water vapor in a mass of air. The left side of the chart is the Dry Bulb Temperature (DBT) axis that indicates the dry (or wet-bulb) temperature. Both the axes decrease as we move from left to right and top to bottom, respectively. The chart displays a number of distinct lines such as the constant wet bulb temperature lines, saturation lines, enthalpy lines, and more.
The chart also features a number psychometric parameters like Relative Humidity (RH), Specific Volume, Enthalpy, and Dew Point (DP) indicated at the top and right side of the chart. This psychrometric chart enables you to quickly ascertain the thermodynamic properties of moist air for a given condition. It is also useful in HVAC applications, especially when you need to make psychrometric calculations such as calculating psychrometric ratio, humidification load, and other parameters.
