How do I read a conduit bending chart?
To read a conduit bending chart, start by finding the size of the conduit that you want to bend. Different charts are organized differently, so be sure to pay attention to the labels. Look for the angle that you want to bend the pipe at along the side of the chart. Then, match up that angle with the correct size of conduit, and you should see a number that corresponds to the amount of offset that you need to make in order to make that bend. The offset is the amount of space between the end of the pipe and the point at which you turn it. This measurement is critical in order to make a smooth bend. Lastly, you need to know how far back from the bend you start making the offset. For this, look for a number labeled “Take-up” on the chart and use this as a reference point.
